The ministry was brought to life by Fr. James Misko (formerly of St. Elizabeth in Pflugerville) after seeing that there was not an established young adult ministry in the Williamson County area. Fr. James, in coordination with Fr. Jonathan Raia of St. William, Fr. Will Straten of St. Helen in Georgetown and a few young adult parishioners got the ministry started.
On January 8, 2010, the first event was held at St. William Catholic Church in Round Rock. The event began with a celebration of the Holy Mass, in which all three priest celebrated. Following mass, there was a wine and appetizer reception in the Parish Hall. Spirits were high and filled with excitement for the newly created ministry in the Northern Area of Austin.
Over the next few weeks, those who were interested in a leadership position met to discuss the ministry direction; what should the ministry provide for the young adults of the Williamson County. Off to a good start the next couple of months brought on the social, study and spiritual aspects wanted by those in the ministry.
The first year brought many blessings… from its members, coordinators, priests, parishes, and overall Catholic community. As we look into the future we have a growing desire to learn more about our faith, what it truly means to be Catholic and want to give back to our community through service and gratitude.
